Description

Ozone Directs kitchen duct systems inject ozone (03) into commercial kitchen exhaust to break down grease, smoke, and odours, reducing fire risks and reducing the cleaning maintenance periods. Ozone reacts with contaminants to form harmless carbon dioxide and water vapor, allowing for cleaner ducts, improved fire safety, and odour-free air output.

Key Benefits of Ozone Directs Duct Systems:

Fire Prevention: Ozone effectively breaks down grease, reducing the risk of duct fires and extending the life of the ventilation system.
Odour Control: Neutralises cooking odours and VOCs before they are discharged into the environment, preventing odours from affecting neighbours.
Reduced Maintenance: Minimises the need for frequent, professional duct cleaning.
Energy Savings: Enables heat recovery from exhaust air, potentially reducing heating costs.

Installation and Safety Precautions:

Placement: Inject ozone into the canopy plenum or the kitchen extract duct, typically on the negative pressure side, for maximum contact time.
Safety Interlocks: Ozone Directs generators must be interlocked with the extract fan and only operate when the ventilation is on, Ozone Directs Duct units have an Air Differential Pressure switch fitted internally
Maintenance: Systems should be installed and maintained by qualified technicians.
System Types: Air-fed systems: Ideal for small-to-medium restaurants with moderate grease loads.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can ozone help me?2025-12-29T11:26:56+00:00

Ozone helps by destroying odours at the source and eliminating harmful bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria, Salmonella and Legionella. This makes environments cleaner and more hygienic — especially in areas where bacteria thrive, like kitchens, bathrooms or high-traffic commercial spaces.

Does ozone react with food?2025-12-29T11:26:45+00:00

Independent testing has shown no harmful cross-contamination of food when ozone is used properly. In fact, ozone has been observed to slow ripening in produce like bananas by inhibiting the production of ethylene, helping to prolong shelf life.

Where can ozone be used?2025-12-29T11:26:36+00:00

Ozone is effective wherever odours or hygiene concerns exist — from homes and businesses to commercial facilities. It can be used in washrooms, kitchens, offices, workshops, vehicles and more to neutralise smells and help control bacteria.

Will the ozone generated affect the ozone layer?2025-12-29T11:26:25+00:00

No. The ozone produced by our units naturally degrades back into oxygen and does not impact the earth’s ozone layer.

What’s the difference between an ozone generator and an ioniser?2025-12-29T11:26:13+00:00

An ioniser releases static charges and primarily affects particles very close to the unit, whereas an ozone generator produces ozone through oxidation, which spreads throughout the entire space. Ozone can eradicate bacteria and odours in the air and on surfaces, while ionisers generally only influence airborne particles and cannot sterilise water.

Is ozone dangerous?2025-12-29T11:25:58+00:00

Ozone is a strong oxidising gas — similar to how bleach is a strong oxidising liquid — but the levels produced by our generators are micro-doses designed to kill microorganisms safely. Our ozone generators are built to meet UK Health & Safety Executive standards and are designed for safe use when operated according to instructions.
